Another Pro Athlete goes Vegan!

Michael Porter Jr. and his brother, Jontay, are now college basketball players. Therefore, their mother, Lisa, wanted to make sure that her sons were on the best diet as they prepare to play at Missouri.

The Porter family, which has eaten vegetarian for more than a decade, is now transitioning into a vegan lifestyle, as reported by Aaron Reiss of The Kansas City Star on Thursday. The Porters hired Doug Graham, a doctor of chiropractic medicine, to help them with their new diet.

“I just didn’t want to make any mistakes,” Lisa Porter told Reiss. “These boys are playing at a really high level. I didn’t want to leave anything unchecked.”
What all does this diet include? Graham gave the family many recipes when he came to visit them, including a cinnamon bun made with thinly sliced dehydrated bananas and a vegan zucchini pizza.

However, Lisa Porter doesn’t want her children to not eat in social settings where only non-vegan options are available. And for Michael Porter Jr., his guilty pleasure remains Chipotle.
But at home, the family remains committed to the lifestyle. Michael Jr. even told his mom that after he makes it to the NBA, he wants to hire a private vegan chef, according to Reiss.

Michael Jr. and Jontay are both entering their freshman seasons for the Tigers. Their father, Michael Sr., is an assistant coach on Missouri’s staff.

The Tigers tip off their season on Nov. 10 at home against Iowa State.
