Vegan Vending Machine?

leCupboard meal sample

A new company, leCupboard, has created an incredible innovation to the vending machine. A smart vending machine that dispenses healthy plant based meals and snacks. Founded in San Francisco, CA by Lamiaa Bounahmidi this new business model hopes to make healthy plant based meals available in high traffic food deserts.
Currently the machines are available in San Francisco exclusively but Bounahmidi hopes to expand strategically around the country and make her product more affordable. The long term plan is to partner with health insurance companies to reduce the expense and make it affordable for people of all income levels.
This is a great time for this innovation, as exclusively plant based nutrition is proving to be beneficial for the environment. Moreover plant based nutrition can combat obesity, a serious problem in the United States.
These vending machines allow for a unique digital experience. The user can cater a meal to special dietary needs such as weight loss and diabetic issues. Most importantly Bounahmidi wants to make leCupboard available to undernourished populations. Bounahmidi wants to collaborate with federal food stamp programs to make these meals available to lower income communities.

After opening June 20, 2017, leCupboard is billed as “a healthful food start-up that serves fresh, plant-based, nutrient-dense meals.” Interested? Visit their website for more info.
